The last time the U.S. won, FDR was in the first year of his first term; there were two short tiers under the bowl of the Stanley Cup; the Steelers played their inaugural season; Josh Gibson, Oscar Charleston, Cool Papa Bell and Satchel Paige were leading the Crawfords to their first championship; Arky Vaughan and Pie Traynor were the left side of the Pirates infield, and Paul and Lloyd Waner were patrolling the outfield.
