Pirates to offer replicas of original Bucco Bricks
The Pirates are now giving fans who donated to the original Bucco Bricks program an opportunity to receive a complimentary replica of their original brick.
Team president Travis Williams stated in a press release this morning that the organization is offering commemorative replica bricks to those who participated while plans for the new "permanent" display are being finalized. He also stated that the original messages on all of the bricks will return to PNC Park.
“I know how meaningful the messages and tributes are. We respect that. We appreciate that,” Williams wrote. “We are, and have always been, absolutely committed to ensuring these special messages and tributes live on permanently at PNC Park.”
This is the third time the Bucco Bricks have been replaced, the letter stated, due to cracking, wear and tear, and uneven surface areas, which presented safety hazards. Now, the Pirates have expedited their plans for a more permanent display in hopes to display the messages on the bricks in a "manner that is worthy of their deep personal meaning," Williams stated.
"My hope is that, through our actions, you will be assured that we appreciate you and care about you," Williams added.
Let's not forget that this whole saga started when the Pirates were caught disposing of the Bucco Bricks in a nearby recycling facility:

That's what prompted the above response from the team after fans were angered by the careless act. Yea, not a great look.
