MikeSullivan’s pregame access, with no skate here today:
• TristanJarry will start in goal. It'll be his first NHL action since Jan. 14.
• On Jarry: "He can't change what's already occurred. He's got an opportunity to put his best game on the ice. We all know that, when he plays to his capability, he's a solid NHL goaltender. And that's what I told him. He's got to take advantage of it."
• On whether he needs to simplify things with all the new players in the fold: "We're always trying to simplify the game. We think that's when we're at our best. We're trying to give these guys a foundation for how we play so that we can be predictable for one another without giving them too much information, to the point we paralyze them. We want them to play the game that's brought them success, but we also want them to understand what Pittsburgh Penguins hockey looks like."
• On how he handles his messaging to the veterans at a time like this. "As I've talked about with the group, this core of players has worked extremely hard for a lot of years and had a ton of success in building a certain standard in Pittsburgh, and what it means to be a Pittsburgh Penguin. Every time you put that sweater over your head, it means something. These guys, this core group, have put a lot of sweat and blood into what that means. And I know that's important to all those guys. We have a responsibility to live up to that standard. And quite honestly, it's an expectation, that we're going to compete a certain way out there."
