Mikko Rantanen is single-handedly carrying the Stars through the playoffs, scoring a natural hat trick in the second period to give the Stars an eventual 3-2 win over the Jets at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg. Rantanen had just scored a hat trick in the third period of Game 7 against the Avalanche, becoming just the third player in NHL history to score hat tricks in consecutive playoff games (Doug Bentley in 1944; Jari Kurri in 1985).

Rantanen's now factored in the Stars' last 12 goals. Twelve.
This was an exceptional game. High quality chances at both ends. American goalies Jake Oettinger and Connor Hellebuyck were stellar. Each team got a key player back from injury: Mark Scheifele for the Jets (scored the team's second goal) and Stars winger Jason Robertson (a minus-1), and each team missed its best defensemen: Miro Heiskenen for the Stars; Josh Morrissey for the Jets. All things were equal, and that played out on the ice. Going to be a great series.
