Penguins assistant coach Mike Vellucci was named an assistant coach for Team USA at the World Championship, joining head coach Ryan Warsofsky’s staff.
The tournament will be held May 9-26 in Herning, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden. No Penguins players have been confirmed to rosters yet, though Sidney Crosby and Erik Karlsson both spoke of the possibility on locker room cleanout day. Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell are both expecting babies in the coming weeks, so they won’t be going. Kyle Dubas is the general manager of Canada.
