Good news for those hoping to see a bounce-back season from DavidBednar. He put together another scoreless outing tonight after giving up a run in his spring debut against the Braves on Feb. 25.
On this night, Bednar set the Yankees down in order in the fourth inning, inducing flyouts off the bats of BenRice and AlexJackson before getting DominicSmith to strike out swinging at a high 97 mph fastball to conclude an eight-pitch at-bat.
"Each outing has been kinda building off the others," Bednar said. "It's good to get a clean one. Felt good. Everything is kinda coming along well. I'm happy with how it's all progressing."
Over his last three appearances, Bednar has been pleased with the progress he's made in being able to consistently throw the fastball at the top of the zone, be in the zone with the curveball and be aggressive with the splitter.
"I think that's kinda been my thing all along -- when I'm aggressive in the zone, I'll have success," Bednar said. "I was happy with that, and continuing to build on each outing and being very process oriented this early into spring training. I'm happy with how through each (outing) I've gotten a little better, and a little more dialed in."
