The Steelers have signed former Ravens safety Chuck Clark.
Clark, heading into his ninth NFL season, will wear No. 21.
He spent his first six seasons with the Ravens and the last two with the Jets. He has appeared in 108 career games, and has recorded 429 tackles, nine tackles for a loss and five interceptions. He also has 34 passes defensed, six forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.
"He's a veteran player, a guy who's experience in the NFL, a guy we're familiar with from competing against him," Mike Tomlin said following Friday's practice. "I'm just highly familiar with his intangibles. He's got a really good relationship with the game. He's a hard worker. He's a really good communicator. His football character comes highly recommended."
To make room for Clark, the Steelers waived defensive tackle Domenique Davis.
Clark helps satisfy the need for depth at safety following the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade. Juan Thornhill is still the primary free safety, though Jalen Ramsey has been taking some snaps there in the team's base 3-4 defense, as well.
