Source: McCurley to be hired as inside linebackers coach
The Steelers intend to hire Scott McCurley as their next inside linebackers coach, a team source confirmed.
McCurley replaces Aaron Curry, who spent the past two years as inside linebackers coach. Curry’s contract had expired and recently accepted a job with the Jets to coach their linebackers.
McCurley is a native of New Castle, Pa., and played college football at Pitt. He has spent the past five years as the Cowboys’ linebackers coach. However, his connection to Mike McCarthy goes well beyond that. He started as a coaching administrator intern with the Packers in 2006 and worked his way up to assistant linebackers coach from 2014-17 and then as a defensive assistant in 2018. He served as defensive quality control coach for the Packers’ staff that beat the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.
